How to draw Hello Kitty

The final step of drawing Hello Kitty

Kon'nichiwa, Doodleers! Today we're catching a flight to the land of kawaii and learning how to draw everyone's favorite Japanese feline – Hello Kitty!

Step 1

Start with a little mushroom.

Step 2

Add a couple of arms and some lines for her shirt. Give her some rounded ears, two circles for eyes, and a cute little nose. You can also start her bow on the top of her head.

Step 3

Give her some legs, sleeves, a thumb, and two buttons for her shirt. Add a couple of loops for her bow.

Step 4

Add the little details like whiskers and lines on her shirt.

Step 5

Now color her in with some nice raspberry reds and navy blue.

Note: you’ll notice that I changed up Hello Kitty’s face on the last step. I think it’s important to make popular characters your own by injecting your own style.

In this case, we have ourselves a Doofy Kitty!

Let's now explore some fun and adorable facts about this iconic kitty.

  1. British Roots: Despite being created by the Japanese company Sanrio, Hello Kitty is actually from London, England. Quite a cosmopolitan cat, isn't she?

  2. Kitty White: Hello Kitty's full name is Kitty White, and she's portrayed as a cheerful and kind-hearted little girl, always willing to help her friends.

  3. A Mouthless Marvel: Have you ever noticed that Hello Kitty doesn't have a mouth? This design choice was made to allow people to project their feelings onto her.

  4. Family Ties: Hello Kitty has a twin sister named Mimmy who is shy and very girly. Remember, every kitty doodle could use a companion!

  5. Enduring Popularity: Since her creation in 1974, Hello Kitty has become a global phenomenon, appearing on a staggering array of products, from stationery to fashion, and even aircraft!

At DoofyDoodles, we're all about the joy of doodling. So pick up your drawing tool of choice and let's create some purr-fect Hello Kitty art together. Stay tuned for more drawing guides and fun facts or you can visit our Goodies page for some more drawing lessons!
